Miami

"What are we eating tonight guys?"
Holden was passing gas as the server took the photo. True story.

Highlights of the mini vacation (by mommy):
1) Went to Zoo Miami and paid attention to animals in the park instead of his toy animals
2) Sweat buckets walking through the 'Amazon' in Zoo Miami
3) Tried lamb shank, kabob kubideh and pancakes
4) Ate puffs off the sidewalk with the family of ducks at the hotel
5) Took a bath in a HUGE hotel jacuzzi tub with daddy
6) Observed planes fly overhead landing in the nearby airport
7) Spent 8 out of 48 hours in the car. Practiced his throwing arm with every toy and tested our patience.

Parks and Recreation

Here are some pictures from the last week. Tomorrow the family drives 3.5 hours to Miami. This will be abnormal for Holden and we hope he will be peaceful and do some light reading during the long car ride. Holden slept for a very long time last night after two nights of Daddy trying to be the primary caregiver and failing. He would be consoled but in another ten minutes he would be crying again. Well, the battle continues and a sympathetic Aunt Margaret sent us a recent study that shows no negative signs due to sleeping too much or too little (based on 326 children). In conclusion, "behavioral sleep techniques have no marked long-lasting effects (positive or negative)." We have introduced a water sip cup in the crib to satiate his thirst desires although the negative may be bed wetting due to mass water consumption.

"The Giving Tree"
Holden is currently in a video teleconference with his usual California audience, Grandad Perry and Gramma Charlotte. Grand Dude John has also gotten in on Facetime recently. Holden enjoys showing off how much food he can fit in his mouth and standing up when on camera. His current diet is still mainly fruit and veggies. He has enjoyed a few new foods recently including, garlic, hummus, eggs, yogurt, black beans and coconut shrimp (just kidding, kind of :/). His new thing, while eating, is to extended both food covered hands over his head and paste his hair up as if styling with mousse (do people still use mousse?).  So, we love that.....

P.S. He has a third tooth that has joined the other two on the bottom.

September

Good day. September is the slowest time in Key West for tourism. This creates a lot of good deals at local restaurants for mommy and daddy. Mommy and a friend of hers trade off baby sitting the others child in exchange for "date nights", so far we have only done this once each but maybe more in the future (its free). Holden is less interested in nursing lately which to me signals his first step towards manhood or this is just a phase. His eye sight and awareness grow sharper each day, noticing airplanes, lizards, birds and dogs. This kid goes crazy for dogs and today he was able to touch the neighbors. He can pull up to standing which he does in his crib and then cries to be put down. However, after only a few days of that he seems to be able to get himself down on his own. He uses a careless technique throwing himself backwards onto blankets and stuffed bears with a large grin about his mug.

Below are some pictures from around the house.
Loves the fans. Can pull cord for "ON" or "OFF"
Wants to floss if only Aunt Sarah could show him
"UP"
Likes the outdoors, loves his hose.
I call him One Tooth
What did you just call me?
