Sunday Funday

This third Sunday of Advent Holden attended "Old Stone" Methodist church commissioned in 1877. He missed most of the sermon due to a feeding/changing. So many people were glad to see him and were also impressed by Laila's Sunggle Wrap, the orange carrier she uses. Holden has had a relaxed afternoon napping eating and playing. I am pretty sure that he has not cried today, which is of note. We have a theory that he takes after me in some mannerisms which makes me wonder if the next child is a girl and will be a squeaky wheel like momma....Yikes! Well we will take em one at a time and are very much enjoying Holden's presence and sounds.

Holden asked to go out in the rain today, his first.

Starting Week Two Strong

Man is this kid smart. I know everybody says that but seriously this boy is gifted. I don't mean he is going to be good at math I mean he is going to split the atom when he gets bored. Today Holden with all his might and more concentration than a Shaolin monk reached out and struck a set of plastic keys daddy was dangling not once but several times. His legs would pump, his arms would shiver, his face would get a little red and then BAM! he would strike. I know! I know! Amazing! but wait, he isn't even due until tomorrow!! Forget the college fund you guys should invest in Holden Inc.

Lets see what else...Holden understands period of darkness and period of daylight and his mother is pleased, well so am I. Diaper changing during the day now has the implied task of book reading and visual stimulation. Grandma Charlotte has declared Holden a "smart boy" also, which carries clout, having raised a dentist, lawyer (one more semester) and teacher. "Man again how smart this kid is, do these Griffins have some nerv or what? Next thing they will have the bumper sticker."

Yeah we are proud! Maybe you have been or will be. Narcissism or objectivity?

Holden joined the 1% today as he is the proud owner of a baby wipe warmer. This opulence is not borne from wealth but out of miserly budgeting and a desire to not hear him cry every time the cold cloth touches his nether regions.

A gift from Aunt Sarah
Tomorrow is Holden's first church service where we will introduce him to the stimulating entertainment of Methodist, no doubt more active than Garrison Keillor's Lutheran crowd (we love NPR and systemically so does Holden). We continue to be thankful of a community that brings over dinners and checks on the status of welfare.
I hear our West coast readers got an eclipse today, Bonnie Tyler style. Well, here is what Holden saw.

So cute He's disgusting

Good evening from Key West,

Last night strong winds brought in a "cold" front and today's high was 70; we had cider and hot chocolate to celebrate. I know we have some readers in New England who may roll their eyes, but we wore jackets today.  Holden went on two walks today to experience the cold snap and slept through both. The first walk mommy tried her Snugglewrap, pictured below, and enjoyed it. The second was to see Santa in the stroller but the line was too long for a tradition that scarred daddy when he was a youth. Holden has slept for much of the day but grandma has had the camera at the ready when he happens to rise. He only cries when he is hungry or his pants are removed for diaper changes, which any self respecting man can appreciate. He continues to make the ladies swoon and plays it cool with closed eyes and deep sighs.
Daddy got a Christmas tree today and started a fund for Holden's college which Lord willing will pay for his meals during his first semester. A few house keeping notes - We are interested in how many people view the site, please follow or join for updates and to give us a perspective on how many of you know how to use the World Wide Web. Hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as Charlotte loves taking them. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Griffins x 3.
